The word "icon" is overused, but the Dachshund, with its unmistakable long back, short legs and great personality, is truly the hallmark of a purebred dog. Dachshunds can be standard size (usually 16 to 32 pounds) or small (11 pounds or less) and come in three coat types: smooth, wire haired and long haired. Dachshunds are made to run for a long time, jump or swim, but otherwise, these restless dogs are ready for anything. People who are intelligent and alert, use a large bark, they make good guards. Being hunters of dangerous wild animals themselves, they can be unreasonably brave and a little stubborn, but their beautiful appearance and unique appearance have won millions of hearts around the world.
Standard breed dachshunds are bred to sniff, chase, and hunt badgers and other wild animals, while miniature dachshunds are bred to hunt small animals such as rabbits and rats. In the western United States, they are also used to locate injured deer and hunt game.
